Some Of The Signs That Your Roof Needs To Be Replaced

By: Matthew McKernan

How do you know when it is time to have your roof replaced or just fixed? Most people would really rather just have it fixed instead of just putting a new one on. They do this because it seems cheaper to just have certain sections repaired but when it is time and you really need a new roof repairing it will not do the trick.

You can repair it but shortly after that something else will go wrong and then something else. So doing it that way may seem cheaper up front but it will cost you more in the end. If you choose to hire a company to do the repairs and most won't do repairs. The reason that they will not do repairs is because it is not in their best interest to just do small repairs. There time is better spent putting the roof on. If you just want the roof repaired then it is on you to repair it.

So what are the signs that it is not a simple fix and you require a new roof? There are a couple ways to tell if a new roof will be required. One way to tell is spots on your ceiling. The spots on your ceiling are caused from cracks in your roof and the rain is coming in and damaging the inside of the home. Another way to tell is if the roof is blistering. There are a couple ways that this can happen. It can happen from either the shingle its self gets moisture or when there is not proper ventilation.

Another problem you may run into is the curling of the shingles. This is caused by once again water if your roof is beginning to curl then it is because it is absorbing the water that is on it. Moisture can also cause your roof to rot. This is caused by the mat absorbing the moisture. This really mainly happens if the shingles are organic based.

There are many more things that can happen to your roof when it needs replaced. If you sure not sure then before you try fixing it yourself call a professional. Call a professional and have them come out and give you an estimate and an idea if this is something that you may be able to take care of on your own. Make sure that you have a reputable company come out so that they will give you their honest opinion. The last thing you want to happen is to have it replaced and you really didn't need to.
